Georgia: According to the applications submitted by airlines and approved schedules at the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCCA), 13,600 flights will be carried out during this summer’s active navigation season.

It should be noted that from June to October, the most—2480 flights from Georgia—will be carried out to Europe, which constitutes 18% of the total number of flights planned from and to Georgia.

The frequency of flights is also increasing with the countries of the Cooperation Council of Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar). In June-October of 2024, 2255 flights between Georgia and the Gulf countries will be executed, 17% of the total number of flights.

During the same accounting period of the summer navigation season, 1761 flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation are planned, constituting 13% of the total flights. Three airlines are operating the flights. Flights between Georgia and the Russian Federation are carried out only by those airlines that are not on the EU blacklist.

Flights are also not carried out, and the aircraft manufacturers have stopped providing technical support, limiting access to technical and flight documentation and the supply of spare parts.

According to the data, during the summer navigation season of this year, out of the 13 600 flights from Georgia to Europe and vice versa, the flights from Gulf countries – 17%, with Russia – 13%, and with other countries in total 52%.

It should be noted that this year, the low-budget airline company of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Transavia, entered the aviation market and started regular flights from Amsterdam to Tbilisi. Also, after a long pause, Austrian Airlines resumed operations in Georgia on Vienna-Tbilisi-Vienna.

The Turkish low-budget airline AJET started implementing regular flights. During the summer season, 11 airlines will operate flights between Georgia and the European Union in 38 directions.

In January-April 2024, Georgian airports served 1,946,881 passengers on regular and irregular flights, which is 31% higher than the number of passengers received in a similar period of 2023 and 34% more than the number of tourists received in January-April 2019.
