The agriculture sector of Georgia is considered as the backbone of the country’s economy. To support the agriculture sector the USAID( United States AID) agency is providing financial support to farmers to purchase agricultural-related machinery.
Due to the mechanisation of almost every sector of the economy, providing the farmers with the latest and modern technology-based machinery is always a priority of the Georgian Government. The aid from USAID is also to step in this direction.
USAID also took to its social media handles and shared information about the financial assistance. In a Facebook post the agency stated”With the support of USAID, we’re supporting farmers and their families. Spring is here and USAID is helping farmers get the latest equipment they need for tillage and seeding”.
Notably, Iza Komladze is the manager of the Farmers’ Service Center at Sachkheri Municipality village. The centre with USAID supports, provides local farmers with tractors, tillers, unloading equipment, and other necessary equipment.
Commenting on the USAID help, Iza Komladze stated, Every day, the number of people who use our services increases, sales have increased by 15%, and we have created five new jobs.
She also disclosed that since 2018 USAID has helped increase the incomes of more than 100000 farmers in Georgia, which is a remarkable achievement in itself. Farmer can buy the tractor as per their requirement. They can select the model of the tractor and the capacity they need for farming needs as per their choice.
Iza Komladze also said that the centre also has a range of small tractors that can fulfil the needs of small farmers. The centre also has sprayers of different capacities that can be used by farmers to spray pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, etc.
Mini trucks for carrying the farm yield can also be arranged by interested farmers. Similalry many other farming products can be availed from the centre.
