Georgia: USAID Education for the Future Program signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) between USAID Arizona State University and partner Georgian universities. The partnership’s primary goal is to promote the development of teacher training education and education sciences programs in universities.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Nodar Papukashvili participated in the signature event. The Deputy Minister addressed the attending community and discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation with American universities in promoting the internationalization of education.
Nodar Papukashvili thanked the US government for supporting the development of the education sector and noted that Georgia will continue to implement joint educational projects in the future with cooperation with its strategic partner, the United States.
The guests of the event were also addressed by the United States Emergency and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Georgia, Robin L. Danigan and Marie Lou Fulton School of Education associate dean on global engagement, Iveta Silova.
Rectors of partner universities and representatives of the diplomatic and civil sectors also attended the signing event.
It is noteworthy that four Georgian universities were selected for a long-term partnership within the framework of the support component of universities, which will work closely with Marie Lou Fulton School of Education of the US Arizona State University.Â
These are Tbilisi State University, named after Ivane Javakhishvili; Akaki Tsereteli State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; and Georgian Patriarchate St. Georgian University, named after Andria.
According to the agreement, the Marie Lou Fulton School of Education at Arizona State University, USA, will offer academic staff from partner universities the best international practice-based expert support, such as developing new curriculum, strengthening the school practice component, teaching and research skills for academic staff Improvement, increasing access to modern literature.Â
Also, the inclusion of universities’ academic staff and students in local and international partnerships will be ensured.
