Tbilisi: USAID’s (United States Agency for International Development) supported  SGEF(Securing Georgia’s Energy Future) program conducted a successful training session. This training session was held in C2M2 modes for private companies.

USAID SGEF shared the information about this on its social media handles. As per the social media handles (Facebook) page of the program, “We are pleased to announce that today USAID’s Securing the Energy Future program conducted training on the Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model (C2M2) for private companies representing the energy sector in Georgia.”

It is also worth noting that the training participants on this occasion got an opportunity to familiarize themselves with a consistent guide for C2M2 assessment and interpretation of results, determine the current state of cyber security practices, determine priorities and plan and implement plans to reduce cyber threats.

At the same time within the training framework, the participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Georgia’s existing regulatory requirements for energy-critical information systems.

In the conditions of massive digitization of deregulated energy markets, such trainings are important for increasing companies’ cyber security competence, reducing cyber threats  and, accordingly ensuring the security and proper functioning of energy systems.

The key speaker of the event added, given the growing threat of cyber-attacks, such training sessions play a very important role in mitigating and reducing their danger.

In the last few years, the threat of cyber-attacks has created a huge problem for law enforcement agencies. Many times the anti-social elements commit crimes in other countries  and it becomes very difficult for law enforcement to control them.

The key speaker of the training session also underlined the need to raise awareness among the general public to prevent cybercrime in the future.

Many agencies at the global level are also working to reduce the number of cybercrime incidents. The training attendees thanked the speaker for sharing vital information with them.
