The Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with Cabinet members, has arrived in the Guria region. Currently, the Vice Prime Minister is holding a regular meeting with the Coordination Headquarters in Ozurgeti at the office of the State Governor of the Guria region.
The Vice-Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri attended the regular meeting along with the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, and various agencies.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its Official Facebook page on February 27, 2025, Thursday. Along with the photographs, details of the meeting were also shared by the Ministry.
According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that during the meeting of the headquarters, the work done during the day was reviewed and the next measures were determined to solve the problems caused by heavy snowfall in the Guria region.
The meeting mainly focused on the basic needs of local people, problems caused by the heavy snowfall, and ways to resolve them in a timely and more effective way.
It has been noted that in Ozurgeti municipality, 80% of the roads are cleared of snow, as a result of the intensive work carried out, in addition to the Guria region, electricity supply has been restored to 5000 subscribers. And, up to 800 subscribers were supplied with natural gas.
Due to the severe snowfall in western Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ various divisions, including firefighters, defense forces, and representatives of pertinent agencies, are still operating in emergency mode.
6 local headquarters of the Emergency Management Service have been set up in the Guria region to receive messages and respond accordingly to the problems caused by heavy snowfall.
Maximum human resources and heavy equipment have been mobilized to support residents, with road-clearing operations underway. Following the Government’s order, the Georgian Defense Forces have been engaged to address the challenges posed by the snowfall as quickly as possible.
