Irakli Kobakhide, the Prime Minister of Georgia welcomed the report of OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe). He said this report proved elections were conducted without any fraud.
According to the Prime Minister, “This report should be respected by all along with opposition parties as well as those organization, who were blaming the Georgian Dream for election fraud now accept the truth”
Prime Minister made these comments during a press conference. In this press conference he said that we may delay the truth for some time but at last we have to accept this.
PM said, no doubt the visit of Alain Berset, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and his comments disturbed the opposition parties. However, they need to understand that the final report of OSCE/ODIHR made everything clear openly.
While speaking further Prime Minister underlined, the report not included even a single word about the interference of Russia in internal matter of Georgia. This means Georgian Dream government is working without any external undue influence.
Other issues highlighted by Prime Minister while referring to finding of report was allegation of violations at polling stations. He said that only isolated incident of violence were mentioned in report. The isolated incident of violence is inevitable.
It is worth noting that opposition parties are demanding re-election in Georgia. On the other prime after the release of this report, PM said, as report termed election fair and transparent so there is no need for any step in this direction.
He said only central election commission or judiciary can announce re-election and his party Georgian Dream have no power in this matter at all. Notably beside main opposition parties, President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili, also blamed Georgian Dream for election fraud. Moreover, President even refused to recognise the election result also.
According to Prime Minister the other ground for re-election also does not exists. The re-election can be conducted only after expiry of four-year term or if no-confidence motion is succeeded.
