Popular Indian three-wheelers “TUK TUK” made their first appearance in the United Kingdom as well, as Welsh Police from now will be using Tuk Tuks to fight against crime in the area.
According to the Wales report available online on Sunday, The Gwent police deployed four tuk-tuks in Welsh streets, Patrol parks and other prominent public places in Newport and Abergavenny.
The police officers will be riding these three-wheelers day and night for patrolling to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Wales.
Chief inspector Damian Sowrey said the vehicles received “overwhelmingly positive” feedback in one of his statements.

Despite significant encouragement from various citizens in Wales, some of the citizens criticized the decision of police patrolling on the Tuk Tuks as, according to them, these will be very impractical for ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
“If they are brave enough to drive one of these around certain parts of Newport, it’ll be burnt out and thrown in the Usk within the first week,” said Resident Graham Shimell.
One Twitter user wrote, “Are they not capable of walking the streets then or even cycling? Next thing you know, Gwent police be on eating delivering kebabs.”
The fleet of four tuk-tuks is supported by the Safer Streets programme, which is a Home Office grant to support the police in crime-tackling initiatives.
The police force has not revealed how fast the tuk-tuks can travel, although several media reports suggested they top out at anywhere between 25 to 35 mph.
