The officials from Russia condemned the West’s approach of “Neocolonialism” in Georgia. Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote specifically about this Western Meddling in the internal affairs of the Republic of Georgia.
It is worth noting that Maria Zakharova , the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman while accusing the US of ‘neocolonialism,’ said that after the US warning now ‘neocolonialism’ would be the next step.
She took to her Telegram channel to say that it is wrong to see the US has warned Georgia of further consequences if the country’s government does not change course.
Maria’s comments came just after the US State Department’s statement. The spokesperson, Matthew Miller, underlined that “the USA is open to any option if the Georgian government does not change its current course.”
In his statement, the US spokesperson also mentioned that we have often urged Georgia to stop actions against democratic values. At the same time, he called international observers to take seriously the reports of police-related complaints.
On the other hand, President Salome Zurabishvili alleged the ruling party of wide-scale violations. She also refused to recognize the result due to the large number of poll violations.
Russia blamed the Georgian President for the above statement and refused to recognize the results. According to Russia, the President’s statements are clear examples of how she is trying to destabilize the peaceful situation in Georgia.
According to Russia anyone can see a clear violation of poll-related rules. Russia also claimed that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country in the world.
Notably, in addition to Russia Hungary’s Prime Minister also recognized Georgia’s election result. He was on an official visit to Georgia and met the Prime Minister. The results of Georgia’s election were declared on Saturday after declaration of results.
The results were in favour of the Georgian Dream. However, opposition parties refused the outcome of the result. The opposition parties claimed that Georgian Dream misused power and influenced voters unduly.
