A special youth camp was organized in Anaklia, Georgia, from July 13 to 16. The camp was held under the theme “Emotional well-being and health.”

23 young people  selected through a special competition  participated in the youth camp. During the camp the participating youth received information about volunteering, emotional competence, emotional well-being, healthy lifestyles, and other important topics.

Moreoverb these young people had the opportunity to meet Natia Namichheishvili, the Executive Director of EDEC (Education Development and Employment Centre), and learn very interesting information about volunteering. On this occasion they also listened to psychologist Natia Tsyramua’s lecture on goal-setting and achievement techniques.

The organisers of the  camp have exciting plans for the future. They announced that the youth  now equipped as ambassadors for emotional well-being and health will soon conduct peer-to-peer training and share the knowledge gained at the camp with other youth, fostering a sense of hope and optimism.

It is crucial to note that the project’ Emotional well-being and health’ is a significant initiative being  carried out by the youth of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti. With the support of the Education Development and Employment Center, this project is part of the ‘Civil Society Initiative’ financed by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, engaging and committing all stakeholders.

On the other handb the project is being implemented by a consortium led by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), together with the following non-governmental organizations: Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Civil Society Institute (CSI), Counseling and Training Center (CTC), Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), and Institute for European Policy (IEP).

The issue of emotional well-being has become a significant cause of concern for health experts. Due to long working hours the mental health of the youth population is also getting compromised. The role of non-governmental organizations and civil societies was also discussed.

It is worth noting that the Non-Governmental Organisation Education Development and Employment Centre has been working for a long time in social welfare. The NGO has also taken many initiatives to boost the level of civic amenities in its operating areas.
