Ukraine: A total of 219 children have been killed in Ukraine as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“As of April 29, around 617 children have been affected as a result of Russia’s assault against Ukraine. According to government data, 219 children were killed, while more than 398 children had injuries of different severity,” stated the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The effort to identify victims in regions of active hostilities in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories is still ongoing. Thus these figures are not final.
Most children were affected in the following regions:
- Donetsk region – 139
- Kyiv region – 115
- Kharkiv region – 95
- Chernihiv region – 68
- Kherson region – 44
- Mykolaiv region – 43
- Luhansk region – 37
- Zaporizhzhia region – 27
- Sumy region – 17
- Kyiv city – 16
- Zhytomyr region – 15
During the first week of March, a vehicle exploded on the road near the village of Krasne, Chernihiv region, killing two children aged 2 and 14.
On March 7, a 10-year-old youngster was injured by enemy artillery bombardment at Irpin’s Romanivka Bridge.
A 10-year-old girl was injured in the Russian shelling of the hamlet of Tsyrkuny in the Kharkiv area on April 28.
The shelling of Zaporizhzhia on April 28 injured five persons, including a toddler.
A 9-year-old boy was injured in an artillery fire in Kharkiv on April 11.
A 17-year-old child was taken to a hospital in the Dnipropetrovsk area on April 21 with injuries sustained during the Russian bombardment of Mariupol.
The Russian Federation’s armed forces have bombed and shelled Ukrainian towns and villages on a daily basis, causing damage to 1,556 educational institutions. 102 institutions, in particular, were entirely destroyed.
On February 24, Russia began the invasion of Ukraine. The enemy massively shells and bombs peaceful cities, towns, and villages of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Territorial Defense Forces, and the whole Ukrainian people effectively fight and inflict heavy losses on Russian armies.
