The Summer Olympic Games of 2024 were officially opened in Paris, a groundbreaking move that captivated the world. For the first time in history, the opening ceremony was held outside the stadium, in the open air, adding a unique twist to the traditional event.
The Georgian Olympic delegation was represented by two legendary athletes at the opening ceremony. Nino Salukvadze, the first female athlete in the world to compete for the tenth time at the Olympics and the holder of all three Olympic medals, and Lasha Talakhadze, a two-time Olympic champion in weightlifting, were the proud medalists.
The representatives of Georgia will be in ten sports at the Summer Olympics of 2024, and 28 athletes will defend the honor of Georgia in Paris. It is noteworthy that for the first time in the history of Georgia, a mixed team of judoist women and boys will fight for a medal in the mixed team competition at the Olympics.
More than 10,000 athletes will compete in twenty-twelve sports at the Paris Olympics.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia Thea Tsulukiani, and President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Leri Khabelov attended the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
The Georgian athletes will participate in the competition from July 27. Paris Summer XXXIII Olympic Games will be closed on August 11.
