Georgia: On October 26-27, Georgia will host the “Tbilisi Silk Road Forum”. The large-scale Forum, founded in 2015 by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, is being held for the fourth time this year. The Prime Minister will officially open this year’s Forum on October 26.

“Tbilisi Silk Road Forum” has become an important opportunity to deepen economic, political and cultural links between Asia and Europe. It aims to create and establish a debate platform where representatives of Silk Road Initiative countries, international organisations and the private sector discuss prospects and linkages for deepening cooperation at international and regional levels.

Irakli Garibashvili: “This year’s Forum will host more than 2000 participants from more than 60 countries and among the guests will include political and business leaders, experts, representatives of international organizations and financial institutions. Participants will discuss the factors that define trade and connectivity at the regional and international levels.

As international trade continues to evolve in line with modern forms of globalization, increased connections have become an integral part of any country’s critically important opportunities. Modern trends in the global economy, complex relationships among international players, rapid development of routes, the importance of saving time, and the need to adapt to ever-changing environments give us the chance to develop brand new opportunities.

The mission and core theme of this year’s Forum is to build more connections today to ensure tomorrow’s sustainability – in this regard the Forum is an international platform for multilateral high-level dialogue.

The key topics of discussion of the Forum will be:

  • New architecture for East-West trade.
  • Increasing the role of the middle corridor.
  • Digital connectivity.
  • Energy sector diversification.
  • Tourism sustainability.
  • Diversified investments for a sustainable future.

“Moving forward, agreeing on ways to solve obstacles hindering cooperation, setting common goals and building the ground for new initiatives and joint projects will be the key outcome and success of the Forum.”
