International Art Festival “Machabeli” continues in Gori

Gori, Georgia: The International Art Festival “Machabeli” continued with great enthusiasm and joy at Gori State University on July 18 this year.

The ensemble Gori opened the second day’s events with the AIP Culture Development Agency of Gori Municipality: Choreographer Giorgi Sadzaglishvili and head of the ensemble David Darbaidze.

The first master class was led by the internationally renowned Polish artist, theater scientist, and director Yaroslav Siekowski, on the topic “Art that crosses borders”. Mr. Yaroslav, whose projects have spanned across Poland, Cuba, Lebanon, Palestine, Ireland, France, Greece, Ukraine, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, Georgia, and Germany, brought a truly global perspective to the festival.

The presentation highlighted the festival’s international recognition, with a special focus on Georgia. The festival has garnered impressive international awards, including the Fringe First, Critics Award, Hamada Award, and Herald Archangel at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as the prestigious Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage Medal “Gloria Artis”.

The next participant at the festival was Manuchar Bendeliani, a Georgian artist living in Germany. His speech focused on the past as a visual experience. Mr. Manuchar introduced his work to the audience and discussed the inspirations and techniques behind it. At the end of the presentation, a discussion was held.

At the end of the second day of the festival, the audience was moved by the presentation of Georgian director, actor, and novelist Merab Chkhaidze’s short film “Jubie’s One Day”. After the emotional journey of the film, the director shared the history of its creation and the story of the main character, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The rector of Gori State University, Professor Aleksandre Mghebrishvili, summed up the second day of the festival and gave memorable gifts to the participants.

Gori State Teaching University is a center for education and science in Shida Kartli in the Gori Municipality of Georgia, it was established as a result of merging two high education institutions: Gori State University and Tskhinvali State University.
