Tbilisi: Davit Arakhamia, one of the leaders of the ruling party of Ukraine and the Ukrainian representative in peace talks with Russia, stated on Wednesday that in case Georgians can’t ensure de-oligarchization, Ukraine will help them.

In a video address released by the Georgian opposition-minded Mtavari channel, Arakhamia insisted that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, was ‘an oligarch.’

Further in his address, he stated that “I thought about recording this video for a few days because I was waiting for an expected hysterical reaction from the Georgian government, which was related to the events I announced earlier in connection with the National Anti-Corruption Agency. The agency was established with the joint efforts of international partners, and it is the main agency for formulating sanctions for the United States of America and the European Union.

Arakhamia, on his ‘War in Ukraine’ website, has suggested on imposing sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili and the businessman who has been helping him financially in the operations of his regime. Although, the members of his political entourage haven’t been included in the package.

This isn’t merely a coincidence to act against the oligarch and his sources of funding. The European Union has also recommended for a similar course of action in a statement.

According to Arakhamia, these people are known to everyone in Georgia and the list of these people is easily available on the internet. The documents, after being verified, will be sent to international sanction groups. The group members will review these documents and a decision shall be unanimously made by the participating countries.

The head of the Georgian Dream Party, Irakli Kobakhidze, said that the list was absurd as itcould include the names of famous footballers and basketball players.
