Salaries and Pensions to increase in January: PM Garibashvili

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, on Friday, stated that a remuneration hike for the school personnel and public servants, as well as pensions and social aid packages, would be provided starting in January.

As per his statement, the school administrative personnel and public servants would receive a hike of 10% in their monthly salaries from the beginning of the forthcoming year.

Further, he stressed the allocation of the budget, stating that health and social programmes increased by ₾770 million and pensions for citizens aged 70 and over to ₾440 in the mountainous settlement and ₾365 in other regions. 

Additionally, the pension benefits for highland residents under 70 would increase to ₾355 while for others to almost ₾300.

The PM also announced increment in monthly social aid for severely disabled persons by ₾65 as well as for others with disabilities, noting that the government also had plans to increase social aid for children, which currently is ₾150 monthly. 

Garibashvili has also vowed the construction of a block of flats with 7,000 apartments for internally displaced families that would cost around ₾250 million, and the renovation of 500 schools with the cost of ₾300 million will also begin in January.

The country leader was all praises for the “unprecedented” double-digit economic growth of 10.5 per cent that Georgia achieved in August and 10.3 per cent over the first eight months of 2022 and said that the 2023 budget has been planned with a forecast of five per cent economic growth.
