Georgia: The Kutaisi Zonal-Diagnostic Laboratory of the State Agriculture Laboratory has installed a new method of dandruff diagnosis, as well as a research method of measles disease, to improve the detection and prevention of these conditions in the Western Georgia region.

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, the Deputy State Commissioner in Imereti Region, Levan Kiknavelidze, the Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi, Tamar Dakhundaridze, and the Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, Irakli Guledani, attended a meeting at the laboratory on Friday to discuss the possibilities and innovations of the new methods.

The participants also visited the Department of Animal Disease Diagnostics, where they saw the state-of-the-art equipment that will be used for the diagnosis of dandruff and measles.

Dandruff is a common scalp condition that causes itching and flaking of the skin. It can be caused by dry skin, oily skin, fungal infection, or skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or seborrheic dermatitis. The new method of dandruff diagnosis will help identify the cause and severity of the condition, and provide appropriate treatment and advice to the patients.

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can lead to serious complications and death, especially in children. It causes fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash all over the body. The new research method of measles disease will allow the laboratory to conduct timely diagnosis and provide reliable results to the population. It will also help accelerate the planned measures under state control, such as vaccination and surveillance, to prevent and contain measles outbreaks.

Pavliashvili said that the implementation of the new methods will enhance the capacity and quality of the laboratory, and contribute to the health and well-being of the people and animals in the region.

He also praised the collaboration between the State Laboratory of Agriculture and the National Food Agency, which are actively working on both the control and diagnosis of measles disease.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Imereti Regional Authority of the National Food Agency and the Kutaisi zonal-diagnostic Laboratory.
