Tbilisi: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person in connection with the illegal weapons and homicide. He has been charged specifically for the intentional homicide and illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms.
As per the initial reports the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia they have filed charges against accused. The defendent is accused of the offence of the intentional murder that occurred in the city of Kobuleti along with the offence of illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms.
The law enforcement officers arrested the accused on March 24, 2024 after the conclusion of trial . He was charged with Article 108 which expains the intentional murder and the third and fourth parts of Article 236 ,illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a preliminary inquiry into this matter. As per the investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs it was established that on March 23, 2024 the accused with the motive of revenge and to kill inflicted multiple life-threatening wounds on the victim with multiple shots from a pistol. As a result of multiple shots the victim was declared dead.
These section of the Georgia law carries a sentence of 10 to 15 years of imprisonment if the accused are found guilty after the conclusion of their legal trial.
After the order of Batumi City Court the accused was imprisoned as a preventive measure. The court issued an order to confine the accused in custody so that he could not destroy the evidence of the offence. The criminal investigation continues to extract the truth.
The prosecution official also said that they are committed to ensuring strict punishment for the accused of this heinous crime. They also said that people should provide the correct information about any offence to the enforcement agencies so that anti-social elements can be put behind bars after the investigation of their crime.
They said that more officials and staff will be deployed to ensure the speedy trial of criminals.
