Georgia:Â The National Wine Agency of Georgia held a meeting in Ambrolauri Municipality. They discussed Racha-Lechkhumi winery-vineyard development issues.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Iuri Nozadze, Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla, Head of the Scientific and Research Center Levan Ujmajuridze, State Commissioner Papuna Margvelidze and Majoritarian MP of Parliament Gocha Enukidze.
The meeting participants discussed the planned change in the specification of Khvanchkara, which defines the norm of smoked grapes on 1 hectare. The discussion touched on the registration process of local wine “Racha” in “Sakpatent” and issues related to harvesting in the Racha-Lechkhumi region.
Attention has been paid to the grape site of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli varieties, processing within geographical boundaries of the name of the place of production, which will help protect and eliminate falsification of wine, as well as create jobs and develop wine tourism.Â
For this purpose, wine factories must be operated in accordance with modern standards in the region, where possible. Y. Complete processing of Khvanchkara varieties and production of wines according to international standards.
At the meeting, the current situation was discussed in detail, and the possibilities of wine production were assessed. Future work meetings have been planned, in which challenges in this direction will be assessed and targeted activities will be planned.
