A summary meeting was recently held at Rustavi Municipality of Georgia. Mayor Nino Latsabidze and the Georgian Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze attended this important meeting also.
It is important to note that this was not just a summary meeting but a significant event under the World Hypertension Screening Campaign. The Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze and the Mayor of Rustavi Municipality Nino Latsabidze opened the final event. Minister Sarjveladze emphasized the crucial role of managing and preventing high blood pressure in reducing the risk of heart disease.
At the same time a screening camp was held under the event’s framework for the locality’s people. Moreover a conference was held where they discussed the strategy of controlling arterial hypertension and the principles of high blood pressure management.
The minister together with the mayor of Rustavi and the guests discussed the achievements and challenges of the world hypertension screening campaign in Georgia and the number of measures that can be implemented in this direction as well in the future.
The event was graced by numerous dignitaries including the acting Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Tamar Gabunia and Mayor of Rustavi Municipality Nino Latsabidze.
The presence of primary care and public health doctors from Marneuli, Dmanisi, Tertriksaro, Gardabani, and Rustavi municipalities underscored their collective commitment to addressing health issues.
It’s worth noting that this year Georgia joined the World Hypertension Screening Campaign for the seventh time. The campaign’s goal is to detect elevated blood pressure and raise awareness of hypertension as the main risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. The threat of hypertension has emerged as the most pressing health issue in recent years demanding immediate attention and action.
The Georgian health minister said they are very concerned about citizens’ health. He also encouraged the attendees to adopt a healthy lifestyle. According to him the government is also making the best efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle among citizens. While speaking on occasion the Mayor of Rustavi added that this is necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle.
