Tbilisi: Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgia’s Prime Minister  slammed President Salome Zourabichvili for interfering in the election process. He also accused President for violating the country’s constitution.

The Prime Minister’s reaction came a day ago. As per PM “ The direct, indirect or any other kind interference by the President is a gross violation of the Georgian constitution. Even as head of Government the President has no right to influence the decision of voters by any kind of involvement in the election process.”

The President of Georgia urged the opposition party to unite on a single platform to defeat the ruling regime. The opposition is led by Lelo, a member of the strong opposition party. The president also called former Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia to make united efforts before the general election, which is scheduled to be held on October 26 this year.

Prime Minister said that as per Georgia’s constitution the President must be unbiased in his work and must be no-npartisan. Moreover in a parliamentary democracy any allegation against the President for election influence is serious.

While referring to the constitutional court’s finding PM stated that the Georgian Constitutional Court had already officially confirmed the President’s violation of the constitution.

It is worth noting that Georgian President on Tuesday invited a representatives of two opposition parties to her office in the capital  Tbilisi. After this meeting with representatives of the two parties, the President during her address to the media said, there is an urgent need for final negotiations. The negation can lead to the formation of strong political alternatives.

People will have choice as third alternative to two main political parties, that is Georgian Dream and United National Movement. Notably there was harsh friction between the Georgian President and Prime Minister over foreign agents’ law.

The bill was vetoed by the president when it was sent for her assent. However it was later adopted with the approval of the Speaker. Georgia’s constitution authorizes the Speaker to approve a bill in case the President vetoes it.
