The presentation of Gucha Kvaratskhelia’s album of paintings, “Gucha,” dedicated to her birthday, was held in the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia. The album was issued with the promotion of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
Aleksandre Grigalashvili, President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Roin Metreveli, academician Inesa Merabishvili, other scientists, and representatives of the art field attended the presentation. Former Minister of Culture and Sports Tea Tsulukiani was an invited guest at Ghonisidzeba.
During the presentation, Gucha Kvaratskhelia’s paintings were exhibited. Dr. Nikoloz Tsulukidze led the evening. The designer of the album is Sandro Chkhaidze.
Gucha Kvaratskhelia (1940-2021) was PhD of Philology (1986), Professor (1988), Director of the Department of Georgian Language of the Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani Pedagogical Institute (1984-94), Minister of Education of Georgia (1992), Director of the Arnold Chikobava Linguistics Institute (1993-2006), Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Language State Commission (1995-2005), i. Professor of the Department of General and Applied Linguistics of Tbilisi State University named after Javakhishvili (1999-2006), Member-Correspondent of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia (2001), Academician of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences (2013), Academic-Secretary of the Department of Language, Literature and Arts of the National Academy Of Sciences of Georgia (2005- 2021).
Gucha Kvaratskhelia is the author of more than 200 scientific papers on the theory and history of linguistics, mathematical linguistics, and language statistical methods. Nine collections of his poetic and dramatic works have been published, and his poems have been translated into German, English, and Russian.
Gucha Kvaratskhelia was passionate about painting. In 2010, his personal exhibitions were held in the Tbilisi “Gala-Gallery” and in 2015 in the Zurab Tsereteli Museum of Modern Art. In 2021, she participated in the project “Week of Digital Exhibition of Women Artists.” In the 1970s, Gucha Kvaratskhelia created a series of author programs, “Ten Thousand Politeness,” in Georgian Television, which she herself led.
