Khasuri: The Mayor of Khasuri Municipality Tengiz Chitiashvili reacted strangely to condemn meeting of Georgian President with Donald Trump. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili besides Donald Trump also met with Prime Minster of Italy, President of Ukraine, France. She also met tech-giant Elon Musk recently.
While expressing his deep concern Mayor said, “The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili is serious issues. This is also important to note United States of America have already expressed concern over peaceful election of October 26, 2024.”
According to the Mayor, this meeting is an inappropriate and disgusting signal that harms to Georgia’s national interests and security. According to him, such meetings will have unfounded consequences not only from a political point of view, but also from a diplomatic and strategic point of view, which will negatively affect Georgia’s image in the international arena.
It is worth to note that while expressing her concern over the development, the mayor calls on the Georgian authorities to approach international relations more carefully and pragmatically so that the country does not find itself faced with unclear and inappropriate decisions.
It is also to noted that Georgian president is very critical of ruling regime of Georgian under the party namely “Georgian Dream”. Moreover, the President also refused recognise election result in favour of Georgian Dream.
President also filed a lawsuit in constitutional court of Georgia to probe complaints of election fraud. According to President the election process was manipulated by Georgian Dream leaders and officials.
She also blamed Georgian Dram for using undue influence, threat to manipulate public opinion in its favour. The difference between Georgian President and ruling party Georgian Dream are not new.
Notably few months ago President also refused her consent to controversial law “Foreign agents’ law”. The law was implemented later on with order of Parliament speaker while ignoring the veto of President.
