10th session of Joint Intergovernmental Commission: Georgia and Azerbaijan to strengthen economic ties

The 10th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia took place in Baku on Friday, January 17, 2025. Prime Ministers Ali Asadov of Azerbaijan and Irakli Kobakhidze of Georgia co-chaired the session.

Baku, Azerbaijan: The 10th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia took place in Baku on Friday, January 17, 2025. Prime Ministers Ali Asadov of Azerbaijan and Irakli Kobakhidze of Georgia co-chaired the session.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, shared a small note about the meeting on his official Facebook page, along with some photographs, on January 17, 2025.

He wrote about his commission meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, where he discussed foreign policy dialogue, trade-economic and transport cooperation.

PM Kobakhidze expressed his special gratitude towards the Azerbaijan Prime Minister for hosting the Georgian delegation and noted that the meeting will contribute to the further widening of relations between the two countries.

He underscored that the development of relations with Georgia is one of the priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. The sides emphasized that over the past period, the Azerbaijan-Georgia strategic partnership has reached a qualitatively new stage.

Both parties talked about the bilateral relations between the two countries. It was discussed that by working together both countries can utilize the existing opportunities for more effective cooperation.

Kobakhidze mentioned that he is interested in implementing concrete practical steps and promoting cooperation in the region.

The PM noted that traditionally, Azerbaijan and Georgia attach great importance to trade and economic cooperation. The Georgian PM also mentioned that Azerbaijan has been among the top five trading partners of Georgia over the last few years. In this regard, Azerbaijan is one of the most important strategic partners of Georgia.

According to him, efforts are necessary to be addressed in the direction of ensuring and promoting energy security and energy independence. He also noted that the megaprojects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia are an example of successful regional cooperation.

The Members of the governments of the two countries also participated in the commission session.

Together with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kobakhidze signed the oath of the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Also, agreements were signed between the field authorities of the two countries.
