Baku: The republic of Georgia and Azerbaijan has signed a memorandum of cooperation for agriculture sector. The pact is signed during a visit of Georgia’s Prime Minster Irakli Kobakhidze to Azerbaijan.
The Georgian prime minister is visiting Azerbaijan to attend 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission of Economic Cooperation of Georgia-Azerbaijan. The PM on this occasion was accompanied by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili.
As per the sources familiar with this significant development the pact was signed on behalf of Georgia by Davit Songulashvili and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev.
This pact will envisage cooperation between the two countries in the areas of biodiversity, climate change, forest governance and waste management. This important memorandum of understanding between the countries was signed within the framework of the tenth session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
The session is being held in Baku under the leadership of the Prime Ministers of Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The minster of both countries signed this memorandum of understanding in presence of Prime Minster of the respective countries.
This Prime Minister of Georgia while expressing happiness on the signing of this agreement said this will help the environment ministries and other agencies of both counties for the execution of their planning.
The agreement will help both sides to implement to execute program for environmental protection and agricultural. Similar views have been expressed by Azerbaijan Prime Minister and his environmental minister as well.
The agreement will also give opportunities to both sides for sharing experience with each other. The shared experience from other country can utilise by other county in the respective agriculture and environment sector of countries.
It is worth to note that both countries already held interaction with participation of experts from agriculture and environmental sector. This sector will give an edge to already existing strong relation between both countries in different sectors as well.
