Kutaisi, Georgia: A Working Meeting of the Social Entrepreneurship Supporters Network was organized by the Economic Development and Empowerment Center of Georgia (EDEC) on April 10, 2025, Thursday in Kutaisi, at ‘Argo’ hotel.
The focus of the event, as mentioned on EDEC’s Facebook page, was to develop the network and further cooperation among vocational schools that have recently established the social entrepreneurship labs. Some of the vocational partner schools included Construct2, Iberia and
Akaki Tsereteli University Vocational Education Center.
Moreover, the intention was to strengthen the connection between the social student-managed businesses and those found in public schools #17, #30, and #33 in the city of Kutaisi.
It is to be noted that the participants included the authors of the social entrepreneurship small grant competition winning- Knowledge Hub, Maia’s Eco-friendly Accessories, Free Space in a Green Environment, Scooby, Phitskhela and the school principals, students, and teachers from Kutaisi public schools #17, #30, and #33.
During the event, participants highlighted the missions and social impacts of their businesses alongside their future goals. It was agreed on through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with vocational schools in attendance that social entrepreneurship would be incorporated into the public school curriculum.
The attending Vocational Schools, had other motivations behind the MOU which were: “To deepen cooperation ties between the parties and bring new concepts into use.”
Within the project “Advancing the Social Entrepreneurship Competences in Vocational Education Institutions” and “Fostering Career Management and Social Entrepreneurship Skills among Youth in Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia through an Innovative Model,” this event was funded by the European Union and the
German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
