Kutaisi: A city-based non-government organization, Economic Development and Empowerment Center has organized a workshop on “Social Entrepreneurship.” Many students from Iberia College attended the meeting.
The non-governmental organization held the meeting on October 24, 2024. College students and many others interested in social entrepreneurship from Kutaisi and other parts of Georgia attended.
It is worth noting that EDEC NGO is also the frontrunner for implementing measures to implement social welfare schemes. The main purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the participants with the project’s goals and planned activities.
The key speaker of the event provides information about the social entrepreneurship training course. The vocational school students involved in the project will take the course and after successful completion will participate in the student social enterprise grant competition.
It’s worth noting that some participants have successfully completed the course. The selection process for a new group is underway with the admission of new students also in progress.
Notably the “Strengthening Social Entrepreneurship Skills in Vocational Schools” project is being implemented by the Center for Economic Development and Support, Childfund Deutschland E.V, (Germany).
The Center for Economic Development and Support is executing this project in partnership with and with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
According to the NGO’s organizers the project’s activities are being implemented in four main directions. The project activities will be implemented in the following four vocational educational institutes selected as pilots in the Imereti and Shida Kartli regions.
These four educational institutes where professional education will be implemented are the “Professional Education Center” of Akaki Tsereteli State University, the AAP College “Iberia” the AAP construction college “Construkt2” and the AAP College “Gantiyadi.”
A total of 10 social enterprises will be financed within the project. The project will support the development of established enterprises with the involvement of mentors and experts. The participants of the event said this was one of the successful meetings.
