Telavi, Georgia: The Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili and the State Trustee of Kakheti side Giorgi Aladashvili visited the “Vine Ponto Winery” in Telavi on May 10, 2025.
Along with them the Director of the Rural Development Agency Giorgi Taghia, and Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Governance Committee Irakli Kadagishvili were also there.
Vine Ponto Winery
“Vine Ponto Winery” is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency. About 1 million GEL investment was made in the wine factory. Among them is 600,000 GEL in discounted agrocredit. In the company, where 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 6 people are employed constantly and 12 people are employed seasonally. “Vine Ponto Winery” owns a vineyard on 3,0 hectares.
Realization of products is carried out both on the local market and exported to the USA, Sweden, the UK, Ukraine, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic.
The wines of “Vine Ponto” are the winners of the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2024 and 2025. Received Gold and Silver Medals (IWSC 2024 – Silver – Kisi 2018; IWSC 2025 – Gold – Mukuzan 2021).
David Songulashvili emphasized the quality of Georgian wine and, therefore, the importance of international authority. As the Minister noted, the success of the Winery Vine Ponto at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) speaks to the distinction of their wines. Participation in international exhibitions is the best opportunity to attract trade partners, expand export markets, and, consequently, increase wine sales.
The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) has been held for more than 50 years and is one of the most prestigious competitions for evaluating and recognizing the best wines and spirits in the world.
David Songulashvili also held a meeting with representatives of a small cellar. They discussed the challenges in the field at the meeting. They also emphasized the importance of promoting programs of distilled wine in both international and local markets.
