Budapest Hosts Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Session

The Minister of State for reconciliation and civil equality of Georgia, Tea Akhvlediani attended the summit held between the governments of Georgia and Hungary. It was held on June 11, 2025, Wednesday, in the capital of Hungary, Budapest.

The Ministry of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality of Georgia shared glimpses of the joint summit of the two countries on its official Facebook page. The Ministry also shared some information related to the discussions held at the summit.

Notably, within the framework of the second session of the Georgian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission in Budapest, the Minister of State held a high-level meeting with the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National, Ethnic, Church Politics and Diplomacy Zholt Schumen.

It should also be noted that during the bilateral meeting, the parties focused on the importance of successful cooperation between the countries. They talked about the relations established in Georgia and Hungary in the context of the historical context of the life of different ethnicities, as well as introduced to each other the main aspects of the integration policy of the states towards ethnic minorities.

Furthermore, Tea Akhvlediani emphasized the priorities, goals, and tasks of the State Strategy for Civil Equality, as well as the dynamics of efforts and results, that the Georgian Government has given to citizens of different ethnicities and cultures in the social and political spheres. This all helps in creating equal opportunities for development and intercultural dialogue.

The Minister of State of Georgia Tea Akhvlediani noted that the Second Summit between the Georgian-Hungarian Governments is individually and extremely significant in the view that the intensive discussions and interaction in all aspects of the Georgian Government’s work create an opportunity to further deepen the bilateral partnership and expand cooperation in all directions.

According to her, Hungary has once again affirmed its firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for our peace efforts to deepen the trust and partnership between the two countries.
