Georgia: The 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Economic Cooperation of Georgia-Hungary was held under the co-chairs of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze, which ended with the signing of an agreement. Deputy Minister of Defense, and Secretary of State Tamash Varga was the chairman of the Hungarian side.
Within the panel, the parties discussed prospects for deepening cooperation between Georgia and Hungary in the following areas: trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, environment and energy, transport, connectivity and innovation, education and science, culture, and more.

The meeting focused on the dynamics of trade growth between countries. It was noted that in the first quarter of 2025, trade turnover between Georgia and Hungary increased by 47 percent. There was also growth in both trade turnover and exports in 2024 – bilateral trade by 14 percent, and exports by 93 percent.
The meeting of the Commission also focused on the increase in the volume of cargo transport between Georgia and Hungary. Specifically, the number of cargo transported by motor transport during January-March 2025 amounted to 5.5 thousand tons, which is 114.7% more than the analogical period of 2024 In terms of 2024 the number of cargo transported in this period amounted to 14.8 thousand tons, which is 2.5% more than in 2023.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of holding the second summit between Georgia and Hungary, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary on June 11-12 this year.
The sides also agreed that the Hungarian side would give a special catalog of investment projects in Georgia to introduce potential investors.
