The Saburtalo district board has carried out a complete rehabilitation of Merab Aleksidze Street. The mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, got acquainted with the deputy Andria Basilaya on the spot.
The Mayor of Tbilisi, “Aleksidze Kuchadze Saburtalo District Board carried out complete rehabilitation works. It was quite rough here with no sidewalks, underground utilities were deactivated, and existing dwellings were creating a major problem, as basements were flooding. Everything is now completely sorted. First of all, the underground infrastructure has been changed.”
“Also, greening works were carried out within the scope of the project. We will continue to rehabilitate the nearby streets. The Saburtalo District Board has the same works planned. Yesterday, we approved the 2026 budget, which includes vital projects for Tbilisi. One of the directions will be the complete renovation and rehabilitation of the streets near Aleksidze Street, noted Kakha Kaladze.
Within the scope of the project, asphalt pavement was laid on an area of 15,000 sq. m., and sidewalks were arranged. Damaged water pipes and the drainage network were completely replaced in the area. And the communication networks were put underground.
An outdoor lighting system was installed by “Warm Service Group“; Zebra crossings were drawn, and an adapted ramp for disabled people was set up. Additionally, the parking spaces have been organized. The cost of the project is 2,800,000 GEL.
As a result of these works, it has become safer and more comfortable for both pedestrians and cars to move on the streets. The transport scheme has been prepared by the Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency.
Along with the mayor, Saburtalo district spokesman Gizo Vasadze, parliament delegate Akaki Aladashvili, district majoritarian in Tbilisi City Council Archil Nizharadze, and head of “Tbilservi Group” Giorgi Papava were recognized.
