The Tbilisi State University (TSU) named after Ivane Javakhishvili hosted a scientific conference “Konstantine Gamsakhurdia: National Identity and Universal Values,” on May 27, 2026, Wednesday.
The National Library of Georgia shared the glimpses of the conference event on its official Facebook Page on May 27, 2026. The Library also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
Within the framework of the event, a presentation of the book “Konstantine Gamsakhurdia (1893-1975)” – Bibliography was held. The book will be published by the National Library in 2025. Its author is Maia Mikaberidze, Head of the National Bibliography Archive Foundation Department, and Editor, Philology Sciences, Dr. Soso Sigua.
The book includes a manuscript of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia’s works: novels, stories, poems, translations, literary letters, essays; among them also include headlines, reviews, and literary and political content published in the early period (before independence, as well as after independence). In addition to books and publications in Georgian, here you can find a list of his books published in other languages.
National Library General Director Konstantine Gamsakhurdia presented the book at the conference and addressed the public with a speech saying, “Today’s meeting is not just one book presentation. This is a meeting with the epoch, a meeting with the name, which not only enriched Georgian literature but also gave it a special European scale and intellectual depth. Konstantine Gamsakhurdia is one of the most important figures of Georgian writing. “His work unites national spirit, historical memory, philosophical thinking, and high aesthetics”.
Mirian Khositashvili, Deputy Director General of the National Library, also gave a welcome speech at the conference.
Organizers of the event are: the Faculty of Humanities of Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili, Institute of Georgian Literature named after Shota Rustaveli, National Library of Georgia, State Museum of Georgi Leonidze, and Tbilisi State University museum.
