Employees of Adjara and Guria Regional Administration of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture detected violations in the village of Zomleti of Chokhatauri municipality. The citizen had illegally installed tape and circular saw equipment in the yard of the laborer.
The Environmental Supervision Department of Georgia shared the snippets of the illegal saws that were found in the country. The Department also shared some details that were related to the unregistered sawmills.
15 units of various types of round wood (pear) and the primary recycling product of about 1 cubic meter have been removed from the territory. The fact contains signs of criminal offenses, and materials were sent to the appropriate authorities for further response.
Protection of natural resources and prevention of environmental violations are priorities for the Department of Environmental Supervision. To this end, departmental crews carry out strict and continuous controls throughout the country. This year, the employees of the regional authority of Adjara and Guria regions detected 10 illegal cutting saws in the working area.
The illegal saws operating throughout many regions without proper government sanction pose a major threat to agencies responsible for preventing this criminal act. The large-scale destruction of forest products causes many problems.
In the framework of the fight against illegal use of the forest, it is especially important to minimize the number of unregistered saws. The department actively uses modern technological tools in practice.
Immediate response is given to each message posted on the Ministry Hotline (153). The legislation has also been stricter. As a result, in recent years, there has been a decline in the prevalence of illegal forestry.
