The chairman of the Adjara government, Zurab Pataradze, got acquainted with the ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in the high-altitude Adjara.

The construction works on the Khulo-Zarzma road are at the end stage. At the same time, large-scale infrastructural projects are planned to be implemented at the resort Goderdzi.

Along with Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Region’s High Council, Tsotne Ananidze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Anzor Bolkvadze, Minister of Finance and Economy, Ednar Nataridze, Mayor of Khulo Municipality, Vakhtang Beridze, as well as representatives of the Adjara Government, the High Council, and local self-government were present.

According to the statement of the Chairman of the Adjara Government, these projects will significantly improve the movement in the region, promote tourism development, and increase the investment attraction of the resort.

He noted, “In the high-altitude Adjara, we inspected the colorful works and got to know the progress of the construction of the Khulo-Zarzma road, which is at its end.” Construction companies are fully mobilized and working intensively to complete the project within the shortest time. Our goal is to make the movement between Samtskhe-Javakheti and Adjara more comfortable and safer, which will contribute to the growth of tourist flows.”

According to him, planning and implementation of important infrastructural projects is actively underway at the Goderdzi resort. The new facilities will contribute to the full-fledged development of the resort, improve the quality of service, and attract investment.

“We held meetings with both the builders and the employees employed on site and discussed together the existing challenges and the needs that will contribute to the further development of the resort,” said Zurab Pataradze.

The Khulo-Zarzma road project is being implemented with the financing of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia. Asphalt-concrete pavement is already set up on 41 km of the 47-kilometer section. The first layer of asphalt is laid from the remaining 6 km to 3 km. At this stage, the construction of feeders, retaining walls, strengthening of slopes on the stream sections, and drilling of wells are underway. The travel time from Batumi to Akhaltsikhe will be reduced by about 1.5 hours on the renewed road.

Today, the Prime Minister heard information about the planned infrastructure projects at the resort Goderdzi. Construction of a modern standards parking station, multifunctional market-exhibition complex, and snowblower equipment warehouse is planned.

Infrastructural projects in highland Adjara will contribute to the full loading prospects of the resort Goderdze during four seasons, economic activity growth, and tourism potential of the region.
