The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, held meetings with the people in Upper Adjara and got acquainted with infrastructure projects in Khulo municipality, in particular, the rehabilitation of Zomleti-Khikhadziri highway.
The Government of Adjara shared the glimpses of the meetings held on its official Facebook Page on June 22, 2026, Monday. The Government also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
Representatives of the Adjara Government, the Chairman of the Region’s High Council, Tsotne Ananidze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia Anzor Bolkvadze, the representatives of the Government of Adjara, the High Council, and the Self-Government were present.
The Chairman of the Adjara Government has focused attention on the priorities of the development of the highland Adjara and noted that one of the main tasks of the government is to improve the quality of life in the mountains, develop infrastructure, and boost tourism potential, which will contribute to both economic activity and create new opportunities for the local people.
It should be noted that the rehabilitation project of up to 7 km of the Zomleti-Khikhadziri highway is being funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia; works include rehabilitation of the road and laying asphalt concrete pavement. Also, necessary infrastructure will be provided to provide road safety, making the movement of local people safer and more comfortable.
Zurab Pataradze held meetings with residents in highland Adjara, several locations, including in the area of Goderdzi Pass, Khikhadziri, and Skhalti valleys, and heard detailed information about the needs or demands of the population, as well as initiatives and opinions. At the end of the meetings, the chairman of the Adjara government honored the memory of those who died as a result of the natural events of April 1989 in the village of Tsablana.
