The National Environment Agency conducts monthly seawater quality monitoring at 14 points, determining hydrobiological and chemical parameters.

The collected seawater samples are being examined in laboratories to assess the current condition of the Black Sea and ensure that any possible changes in water quality are identified in a timely manner.

In addition, the Laboratory Research Center of Adjara, in cooperation with the Adjara Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Authority, conducts monitoring of the Black Sea water once every 10 days at the Sarpi-Cholok section across 7 study points.

Studies include:

  • Batumi central beach
  • Water park area
  • Kvariati
  • Sarp
  • Kobuleti central beach
  • Bobokvati area
  • Green conch

The studies began in May this year and will continue until the end of October. During the resort season, 98 samples are planned. According to laboratory studies, the quality of the seawater at this stage is within the allowed standards at all seven points of the coastline.
