The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, and the State Representative of the Kakheti Region, Platon Kalmakhelidze, got acquainted with the work of the Harvest Coordination Headquarters in the city of Gurjaani.
The Sagarejo Municipality City Hall shared glimpses of the Harvest Coordination Headquarters’ work on its official Facebook Page on August 25, 2026, Tuesday. A small note about the work was also shared along with its glimpses.
The headquarters ensures the coordination of the process during the harvest period, the provision of relevant information to winegrowers and wine producers, and the prompt resolution of issues related to the harvest. The headquarters will operate 24 hours a day.
Representatives of legislative and local government attended the meeting.
David Songulashvili focused attention on the importance of the policy of price differentiation by quality development of the vineyard-winery field, and improvement of the quality of grapes.
“Supporting the viticulture and winemaking sector is a priority for the state. For the sustainable and long-term development of the sector, the production of competitive and high-value products is particularly important, which ultimately determines the positions of Georgian wine and its competitiveness in international markets. The introduction of differentiated prices based on grape quality serves this very purpose.
This approach was successfully introduced during the harvest period last year and gave winegrowers an additional incentive to take care of the condition and proper indicators of grapes. This year, we are placing even more emphasis on this direction, which will contribute to improving the quality of Georgian wine and strengthening our export positions in international markets,” said David Songhulashvili.
“The 2026 harvest will be held in an organized manner, with an emphasis on quality, and at the same time, not a single kilogram of grapes will be left unsold. The harvest in Kakheti will traditionally begin in the Dedoplistskaro municipality,” noted Platon Kalmakhelidze.
