Forest Day was celebrated at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. During the event, representatives of various institutions and scientific and academic circles were awarded for their exceptional contributions to the protection of forests and the development of the forest sector.
Minister of Environment and Agriculture David Songulashvili congratulated the speakers on Professional Day and talked about the importance of their daily work and professional activities in forest protection and sustainable management.
“Forest reform in Georgia has been going on since 2013, and its main goal is sustainable management, restoration, and biodiversity preservation of Georgian forests.” I am proud that with you we have laid the foundation for unprecedented and comprehensive changes, like those that have never happened in the history of Georgia. It’s not only about the forest, but about the future of our communities and country. This goal cannot be achieved without the people who care for Georgia’s forests every day – forest rangers, speakers, specialists, and scientists. Glad to have the opportunity on this special day to award forest employees who have made significant professional contributions to the development of our country’s forests. “As you, the forest has a reliable patron, and you, as the Ministry, are a worthy partner and supporter,” said David Songhulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture.
For successful activities in the forest sector over the years, representatives of the National Forest Agency, Protected Areas Agency, Department of Environmental Supervision, and Adjara A/R Forest Agency were awarded chest medals and cash awards. Representatives of scientific and academic circles in forestry were also awarded at the event.
On the initiative of the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, David Songhulashvili, the outstanding speakers of the field were given the status of “Merited Speaker” and special awards.
