The Georgian Defense Forces celebrated Military Chaplain’s Day on Friday, September 25, 2026, with an event held at the Ministry of Defense.
A meeting with the new Chief Military Chaplain, Archpriest Guram Charelashvili, was held at the Army Hall as part of the celebrations. The event focused on strengthening the military chaplain service and cooperation with the Georgian Patriarchate.
The Ministry of Defense of Georgia shared the photos of the event on its official Facebook Page on Monday, September 25, 2026. A small note about the event was also shared along with its photographs.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia, Grigol Giorgadze, in his speech, focused on strengthening the Chaplain Institute and fruitful cooperation with the Patriarchate of Georgia.
At the event, the Secretary of the Catholics-Patriarch of Georgia, Archdeacon Micheil Botkoveli, read the letter of welcome from Catholics-Patriarch Shio III of Georgia.
The chief military priest, Archpriest Guram Charelashvili, addressed the chaplains. Former chief chaplain, Archpriest David Londaridze, was given a token of appreciation for his contribution to the development of the military chaplain service.

Father David Londaridze and Father Guram Charelashvili celebrated the Mass in the Cathedral named after the Archangel in the territory of the Ministry.
As part of the celebration of the Military Priest’s Day, a lecture-seminar was also held with the chief chaplain’s military priests, where the experience of chaplains and the main aspects of their activities were discussed.
