At a celebratory reception held in honor of the “Tbilisoba” festival, Tbilisi City Hall awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi to 32 individuals. The ceremony brought together prominent figures from different fields who have made significant contributions to the capital and the country.
The Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) shared glimpses of the award ceremony on its official Facebook Page on Monday, October 5, 2026. GNOC also shared a small note about the event along with its highlights.
Among them are the President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee and Olympic champion Leri Khabelov, and the Vice President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee and Olympic champion Nino Salukvadze.
The title of Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi is a special recognition of the hard work and merit of individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the capital and the country through their professional work, achievements, and dedication.
The names of Leri Khabelov and Nino Salukvadze hold a special place in the history of Georgian sports. Both are holders of the highest sporting titles and have, for years, represented Georgia with distinction on the international stage.
In addition to their successful athletic careers, both have served honorably for many years as leaders dedicated to the development of Georgian sports and the Olympic movement.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze presented the Honorary Citizens with their certificates and the symbolic keys to the capital.
