A large celebration was organized for tax administration officers by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia on October 30 to mark the Professional Day of Tax Administration and to appreciate their service for Georgia development.
The Professional day is held annually to commemorate the anniversary of the IOTA. The IOTA professional day IOTA decided, in June 2025, to establish a professional day of IOTA and this decision was approved by the IOTA General Assembly in June 2025. The professional day should honour professional standards, good tax administration and co-operation between tax administrations.
On the same occasion, Head of Tax Service Mamuka Baratashvili and Head of International department Archil Darakhvelidze participated. At the event, tax officers talked to the visitors and told them that this professional day allows people to know the work and achievements of tax administration employees.
Alix Perinio de Troy, Executive Secretary of IOTA who also remotely participated and shared in the celebrations. Perinio de Troy congratulated the winners of the celebrations and welcomed the recognition, congratulating the Revenue Service staff on this Day.
An award for the most committed, professional and responsible behavior in the performance of the official duties of employees was also given. It was conferred to 21 labor union representatives of the Revenue Service, signed by the IOTA Executive Secretary and the Acting President of IOTA.
The badges were awarded for excellent professional standards, dedication to duty and invaluable services rendered to the work of the tax administration. And certificates were awarded in recognition of each individual’s contribution to establishing an efficient , equitable , and just tax system.
The concept of official creation of the Professional Day of Tax Administration is a good idea to build the professional identity and to recognize the workers of the tax administration. Those days make us remember those working behind our country’s income collection system and continue to motivate us to improve the institution’s performance.
Furthermore, being part of IOTA will also give Georgia the possibility to cooperate and to learn from the other EU tax administrations. The exchanges of information and experience, the comparison of practices and the cooperation between tax administrations will make them more efficient and more transparent.
