Georgia:Â Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masatsugu Asakawa, accompanied by his wife, made a special visit to Tbilisi to participate in the prestigious 57th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, underscoring the importance of Georgia in the ADB’s global agenda.
The high-ranking guest was warmly received by Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia Ekaterine Guntsadze. In their productive meeting, they underscored the mutual benefits of the annual meeting, discussing issues of bilateral cooperation and the significant role Georgia plays in the ADB’s operations.
In addition to the official events planned within the ADB Annual Meeting, the President of the Asian Development Bank will meet with Georgian officials.
Georgia will host the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank from May 2 to May 5, 2024.
The annual meeting will be a vibrant platform, hosting up to 70 events. These events will provide a unique opportunity for guests to engage in dynamic discussions on economic development trends and the pivotal role of international financial institutions in addressing global challenges such as climate change.
Ekaterine Guntsadze, the Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, welcomed the high-ranking guests at the airport. Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili met the Asian Development Bank Executive Director.

The sides discussed issues of cooperation and future partnership between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank. The bank’s executive director thanked the Minister of Finance of Georgia for organizing the annual meeting at a high level.

At the meeting, the Minister of Finance introduced ADB executive directors to the current economic situation in the country and the progress of the projects supported by the bank.
Progress towards structural and economic reforms has been highlighted. It was noted that ADB continues to support the government in its advancement.
