Adjara, Georgia: The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, got acquainted with the ongoing works within the framework of the program “Batumi without emergency houses“.
It should be noted that the construction is actively underway at three locations. After the completion of the works, 570 families will receive a furnished apartment. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Adjara Government to improve urban infrastructure and address long-standing housing challenges. Authorities emphasized that, along with providing safe apartments.
The Government of Ajara shared the glimpses of the inspection works on its official Facebook Page on September 24, 2025, Wednesday. The Government of Adjara also shared a small note about the ongoing construction works.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted that crash houses have been one of Batumi’s main challenges for years, and the implementation of the program will create a safe and decent living environment for Batumi residents.
Within the project, an 8-storey building will be built on Selim Khimshiashvili Street. Exterior facade and interior are being arranged at this stage. Construction of a 12-story residential house on Mayakovsky Street is underway in parallel. At this stage, the major construction works are completed and the arrangement of outdoor and indoor spaces is underway. Also, two 8-story buildings will be built in the Shanghai settlement.
After the completion of the program, a new, modern and safe housing apartment will be handed over to all people in need. Together with the Chairman of the Adjara Government, the head of the government apparatus, Jaba Surmanidze, and the acting mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Tsintsadze, got acquainted with the progress of the work.
Notably, the Chairman of the Government of the Ajara Autonomous Republic is the head of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The post was created in 1991.
