19 Million GEL reserved for promotion of Georgian products: Otar Shamugia

Tbilisi:  As per the Otar Shamugia Georgian minister of environment protection and agriculture 19 million GEL will be used to promote and popularise Georgian products worldwide.

Along with this amount there were many other initiatives for the same objective as well were launched. At the time of his speech in the parliament of Georgia, the minister stated, “One of the priority directions of our Government is to diversify the markets. Every year we increase activities and funding in priority markets to promote Georgian products. This year in this direction record high funding of 19 million GEL is planned.

Otar Shamugia the ministerial candidate also noted that as a result of the targeted policy of the state in the field of vineyards and wine the field is developing and the export revenue is increasing. Last year the harvest was organized and up to 221 thousand tons of grapes were processed. Farmers’ income from the realization of grapes amounted to more than 300 million GEL.

Otar Shamugia also added “We will continue to support the agriculture field. At the same time it is important to strengthen research tools and quality control for which we have started compulsory certification of products for realisation on the domestic market. Also we have completed the vineyard cadastre program, within which 48700 ha area is reserved as well”.

As per the various programs and other policies the main purpose of the Ministry is to expand the export of Georgian products across the globe. At the same time to promote Georgian products, it is important to find a market for the products in countries across borders.

On the other hand, the ministry also has the duty to promote and produce high-quality goods that can compete in the open market at the international level. The local traders also need security to promote Georgian goods against the cheap imported goods.
