Tengiz Nasaridze meets agricultural experts

Tbilisi: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia Tengiz Nasaridze met with representatives of scientific circles and specialists in the field of agriculture. This meeting was held to discuss the development of wheat production and ensure food security in the country.

Moreover this significant meeting was held within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 

In this meeting the Georgian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forest focused on the sustainability of the wheat supply chain and talked about the importance of promoting wheat quality and yield growth for the country by introducing the appropriate action plan.

Speaking specifically Tengiz Nasaridze stated that “Promoting wheat production is one of the important priorities of the Georgian government,i think with unified efforts we will be able to prepare an effective action plan which will ensure the growth of quality wheat production and the food security of the country”.

Similarly at the meeting, the discussion touched upon the importance of seed farm development in the country. This will reduce the problem for the quality seed production as well.

The meeting held at the Agricultural Research Center was attended by the leaders of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Agricultural Research Center as well as representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry and the private sector.

The Georgian central government has implemented many efforts to make food security stable in Georgia. It is to be added that the recent global conflicts have created many problems for the food supply chain of many European and non-European countries.

To meet the present food requirement along with the food security of the future the Government has introduced many new methods to enhance cooperation among other agencies so that the food security of the country can be ensured.

All the attendees of the meeting also emphasized the need to invest in the field of agriculture research so that no problems can occur in the future concerning food production.
