The American hospital Tbilisi has successfully performed a first ever liver transplantation. The operation was carried on a nine-year-old girl.
The medical specialist of American hospital Tbilisi has taken to their official Facebook page to share this information. The Facebook page stated, “The first paediatric liver transplant was performed at the American Hospital Tbilisi on a nine-year-old girl.”
It is worth to mention that the patient is a 9-year-old girl, whose family applied to the American Hospital Tbilisi Transplant Centre. The patient’s mother expressed her desire to become a donor, who according to preoperative studies was fully compatible. The operation was successfully performed under the guidance of liver transplant specialist Zaza Iakobadze.
The medical experts says that with successful operation the patient girls have got a new life. They said with donation the mother of girl has already given life to the girl twice. The donor was discharged on the 8th day after the operation and however she underwent a serious surgery so medical experts has kept him currently under outpatient supervision.
Zaza Iakobadze stated, “For this great success, I would like to thank each and every person involved in this process, Professor Murat Kilic together with his team our hospital doctors, nurses orderlies and in general each and every employee of our hospital played their role very successfully.”
“I would also like to note and express my gratitude to the Ministry of Health of Georgia for its great contribution and support to this project which is reflected in the state’s full financing of liver transplantation for Georgian citizens within the framework of the relevant program,” said Zaza Iakobadze.
It is very worth to note that the American Hospital Tbilisi Transplant Centre, which holds the international gold standard JCI accreditation has been performing liver transplantation since July 19, 2024.
Till date four liver transplantation operations have been successfully performed, including three adult and one paediatric. The medical experts said that anyone can avail world class medical services there. Moreover, people can arrange a prior appointment also over the phone to avoid time.
