The Chairmen of the Supreme Council and Government of Ajara – Tsotne Ananidze and Zurab Pataradze, together with the Minister of Education and Sports – Maia Khajishvili, the Mayor of Kobuleti Municipality – Irakli Tsetskhladze, and the Kobuleti delegate to the Parliament of Georgia – Gia Chkonia, got acquainted with the ongoing infrastructure projects in Kobuleti Municipality.
The Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Supreme Council of Ajara – David Batsikadze and representatives of the local government were also present at the site.
The members of the governing team inspected the ongoing works at Kobuleti Public School No. 1. The school is nearing the completion stage of the construction of a new, open, multifunctional sports field. The existing tennis courts and the school facade have been rehabilitated. As part of the second stage of the project, next year, a complete rehabilitation of the school’s interior is planned.
Government representatives also attended the process of adopting school uniforms at Kobuleti Public School No. 2.
He noted, “We visited the ongoing infrastructure projects in educational and preschool institutions. Modernization of buildings in accordance with modern standards will promote the safety of students and create equal opportunities for receiving quality education, regardless of their place of residence.”
“We also got acquainted with the process of adopting school uniforms in one of the schools. Despite the criticism regarding school uniforms, it is important to consider the issue based on international practice and specific arguments. The introduction of uniforms has a number of important advantages – it helps to strengthen the sense of equality among students, reduce bullying and social differences, and improve discipline and security. In addition, it also represents a certain financial benefit for families,” said Tsotne Ananidze.
During the visit, government representatives also got acquainted with the progress of the rehabilitation works of the Tskavroka village public school and kindergarten.
The complete rehabilitation of the internal space of the building is underway at the Tskavroka village public school. The project includes the renovation of the roof and facade, and the improvement of the fence and yard. Before the completion of the works, the Tskavroka village public school will start the educational process at the Leghva village public school No. 1. Transportation of students will be provided.
Rehabilitation works are also underway at the Tskavroka village kindergarten. The project includes the dismantling of walls, the arrangement of bathrooms, the installation of a heating system, as well as the improvement of the yard and facade. The completion of the works is planned for 2027.
This year, the complete rehabilitation of 6 kindergartens is being carried out in the Kobuleti municipality. In parallel, the construction of one new kindergarten is also underway in the municipality.
