Akhaltsikhe: The Akhaltsikhe Municipality of the Republic of Georgia has recently got eighteen new buses. All of these eighteen buses are equipped with the latest facilities.
New buses have been added to the present fleet to make the transport facilities best in the country. The purchase of new eighteen buses has been made according to modern standards for the municipality and this decision was implemented by the order of the government.
This time Akhaltsikhe municipality received 18 buses of EURO-5 standard. The Euro-5 standard has been implemented to reduce pollution in the country as well.
State Commissioner of Samtskhe-Javakheti Besik Amiranashvili along with Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality Irakli Lazarashvili, Majoritarian MP of the Parliament of Georgia Anton Obolashvili, Chairman of Sakrebulo David Lomidze, State Commissioner administration and local self-government representatives visited the bus depot and inspected the buses.
The new comfortable EURO 5 standard buses have 47 passenger capacity and are adapted for people with disabilities. Many times people with special needs find it very difficult to access the buses so to make the experience for these people better the buses have been equipped with the faciltity that can be utilized by all including people with disability as well.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the program which aims to rehabilitate and further develop municipal transport across the country was implemented through financial resources allocated from the central and local budgets.
The local administration also said that Within the scope of the project 154 units of Isuzu company 8-meter buses were purchased for 38 municipalities which will be handed over to the municipalities step by step.
The mayor further said that more initiatives will be taken to upgrade the level of public transport. He also added that the funds from the local budget as well as the central government funds will be utilized in the future as well for other civic amenties.
The citizens of the locality said that this is the very significant step taken by the municipality to address the issues of local passengers.
