The IOM(International Organisation of Migration) Georgia and other social organizations held many community initiatives for the migrant people living in the municipality. Baghdati has the highest rate of migrants among all other municipalities of Georgia.

The IOM Georgia while sharing the information on their official Facebook page added that “With a high emigration rate, Baghdati is one of the municipalities where we finance community initiatives with the help of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Development Fund of the International Organization for Migration”.

The organization also stated that under the framework of these community initiatives we have equipped the Village Rokhi Center for the successful hosting of the Culture, Sports, and Youth events.

The center has also hosted a variety of cultural and social activities for residents such as the 60+ club, a chess and dork tournament, a painting and embroidery masterclass, a film screening, and discussions.

Notably, 60+ is a socialization center for the older generation where citizens get the opportunity to learn new skills, carry out activities tailored to their interests and as a result improve their quality of life.

On the success of the events some participants said “Events like this provide hope for progress and empowerment moreover it was an interesting day of sharing intergenerational interests”. It is to be noted that the goal of the community project is to help the reintegration of returning migrants into the local community.

The representative of the IOM Georgia also thanked the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency and International Development Fund for assisting the Culture, Sports, and Youth activities at the center of Rokhi village in Baghdati Municipality.

The people on the occasion said that these events are more than just fun, they’re a step forward in strengthening the local community and bridging the generations gap. Such initiatives play a crucial role in the sustainable reintegration of returnees as well as making Baghdati a place of progress and unity.
