Batumi, Georgia: The award ceremony for the best athletes, coaches, and sports teams among the sports clubs of Batumi Municipality City Hall was held on May 14, 2026, Thursday. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, with representatives of the region’s executive and legislative authorities.
The Mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Tsintsadze, opened the festive event. Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, and Maia Khajishvili, addressed the public, along with the Chairman of the Adjara Government.
The Prime Minister noted that, as sports infrastructure develops, it is important to support and create new opportunities for young people.
According to Zurab Pataradze, a number of important projects and initiatives are planned for the development of sports, which will contribute to the development of sports in the region.
He said, “It is a great honor for me to be at today’s event. Years ago, along with many of you, I laid the groundwork for this beautiful stadium, and it is great that today it has become one of the calling cards of our region and country.”
He also mentioned that they can say that Adjara is the home of champions. They see so many dedicated young people working hard to make tomorrow even more successful.
“Glad to have the opportunity to reward our athletes. We will do our best to create even more opportunities in the field of sports. I especially want to celebrate the sacrifices of our veteran athletes. Their experience is the biggest motivation for our young people,” said Zurab Pataradze.
Within the framework of the event, the Chairman of the Government awarded the winners of the nominations “Athlete of the Year” and “Team of the Year” – basketball player Anuki Komakhidze, sand wrestling wrestler Mamuka Kordzaia, and the girls’ team of volleyball club “Batumi“.
