Kakheti, Georgia: Beka Davituliani, the Georgian Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, visited Telavi Municipality while on a work-related visit to the Kaketi region today.
He visited Telavi’s Niko Sulkhanishvili Music School, Telavi Historical Museum, Telavi St. Georgian Traditional Music School named after Karbelashvili Brothers and Vazha-Pshavela Professional State Dramatic Theater.
During his visit the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia met with the director and teachers of the music school, thanked them for their hard work and effective management of the learning process, expressed their desire to work closely and promised to support the ministry in its activities.
In the Telavi Historical Museum, Beka Davituliani visited permanent and temporary exhibitions, got to know the needs of the museum and talked with staff about the prospects for the development of this important cultural center.
At the Georgian Traditional Music School named after Karbelashvili Brothers, the Deputy Minister met the founders of the school – Lotbars Gocha and Beka Bidzinashvili and other teachers, got to know the activities of the organization, the problems raised and confirmed the readiness of the Ministry to help in the development of the school.
Georgian Traditional Music School was opened in Telavi in 2011 and today it has 150 students, and exceptionally talented young people continue to study at Salotbaro School.
In Vazha-Pshavela Telavi State Professional Dramatic Theater which is situated in the heart of Telavi, Kakheti, the Deputy Minister of Culture inspected the furnished workspace and met the director of the theater.
Earlier on the same day, the Minister Beka Davituliani visited Ilia Chavchavadze State Museum in Kvareli and got acquainted with the rehabilitation works of Ujarmi and Davitgareji Museum-Sanctuary. He also visited the Grammy Museum and the monastery complex.
Deputy Minister got acquainted with the infrastructural problems of Ilia Chavchavadze Museum and promised to support the Ministry to solve them.
It is to be reminded that, in 2023 the activity hall of Ilia Chavchavadze State Museum was renovated with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
Beka Davituliani got acquainted with the support of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage in Ujarmi Castle.
The conservation-restoration process was started in 2018 and so far 1,914,464 GEL has been spent.
The Deputy Minister toured the Grammy Museum and the Monastery Complex also, where the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage is carrying out rehabilitation work, met the staff and listened to their needs.
These kinds of regional trips by the deputy minister of culture to various parts of the country can enhance regional operations and safeguard the nation’s cultural legacy, particularly in Georgia, which has many cultural artifacts that require restoration.
